Default First new snippet of GW2 info revealed by Destructoid.com staff...

I emailed one of the staff at Destructoid.com, asking for more information on the GW2 Art which is rumored to be published this week (see THIS thread). After some persuasion, she shared some of the information that he got from the "internal source", and said that this would be posted later in the week, along with the GW2 Art (which, apparently, will also be revealed ingame somehow).

Here is the email she sent:

Re: Regarding the release of Guild Wars 2 Art later this week...

Hello,

Yes, according to the "inside source", the Art will be available in-game as part of a large game update at the end of the week (I don't want to spoil it for any of the fans, but it has something to do with the Xunlai

You might also want to share this with some of the fansites - As of typing this, I'm in contact with the "inside source", and he has just been telling me about how GW2's "instanced areas" will work. According to him, the instanced areas will be extremely dynamic, where there are no fixed "parties". Instead, approaching people in the explorable will allow you to "join" their party and receive their quests (providing they are of a similar level to you). Another feature of these explorables is that loot is only assigned to people who contribute to allies / help kill enemies in the area, in order to prevent loot stealing. If there are only a few people in the area, the area will be filled by AI allies, which will also team up dynamically (unless they are on their own "quests").

He mentioned that the revamped graphics engine already looked "fantastic", from what he has seen - he said the game would use the latest DX10 shaders, but would apparently easily run on a DX9 PC from now. He mentioned that "the lowest end settings of GW2 graphics will look roughly like the maximum settings on Guild Wars: Eye of the North".

I hope you find this information exciting, and watch out for a Destructoid article with some more juicy information inside!

Regards, Collette Bennett - Destructoid.com
Wow, this sounds amazing!

I'm so pumped for this, yet worried that it's just an April Fool's joke. :/

I hate you. I know April Fool's day is a sacred thing, but you have done the unthinkable - you have brought in Xunlai Marketplace! You do NOT mess with the most awaited and desired feature since the game conception! Now go stand in the corner and reflect on your behaviour! And never mention the name of the holy feature again!

AI Get their own quests? WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I smell fabricated bs. Hell, I can make up better stories than that. lol If it actually turns out to be true.

That is the nice thing about the Internet - there is always some place with a different time zone. The thing is - if you post the news smack on 1st of April in your time zone, you won't have anyone believe you. On the other hand, post it early, and you are still in the right - after all, it IS April 1st somewhere in the world, and the internet is one big worldwide mess.

I think she meant pretend quests, e.g to make the AI look like it's doing something (like in Factions with wandering peasants), hence the "quests" bit.

Email her about it if you're not convinced...

What? That's just great!

Absolutely great!

The total end of elitism, envy and greed!!
"I'm like you, I join you"

I just hope that if this is not a 04/01 joke, that they make that thing so no leeching is possible.
I'd hate to have to run away, logout or change worlds just because someone that is making nothing at all is getting things from my efforts.

I see no official information about GW2 here, or in any of the links.

It could be (more likely) talking about the Xunlai tournament, possibly reward points getting info... if any of this is accurate.
